Activities

Zwemmen in de rivier de Korana

You can just sit in your chair & enjoy the sound of nature,
you can read books from our library,
if you're lucky we'll host an interesting workshop,
you can jump the trampoline or hang upside down from the climb-structure, or...

Hiking

If you like to hike, you'll love our surroundings. Bogata Suma is situated in a hilly area with a forest that stretches all the way to Zagreb in the north, to Bosnia in the east and to the coastal area in the south. In the valleys you will find small self reliant farms with lovely people that might invite you for a sljivovic (their home made rakia from plums).

Bed & Bike - cyclists are welcome!
Cycling

Our region is developing more bicycle trails. There are several routes to follow. The trails stretch all the way to Petrova Gora (17km from here), where you can find an impressive "forgotten" monument from the communist period.

Swimming

If you want to go swimming, we can recommend the river Korana (12km from here). A beautifull and very clean river with a nice temperature. The little waterfall provides you with a free massage! :-)
Also the river Mreznica is beautiful and refreshing.

Micro-workshops in summer

In the more busy periods on our camp, we host microworkshops for our guests. Almost all have to do with the great produce of our land, like: how to pick and mix your own herbal tea, how to turn a cabbage into sauerkraut and cook the Croatian dish "sarma" with it, how to smoke meat, how to make a fantastic handcream or tincture... Please ask for the possibilities.

Communist monument (spomenik)

Comunist monument Petrova Gora, Vojnic17km from Bogata Šuma, on top of mount Petrova Gora, you can find a mysterious, isolated and crumbling "spomenik"; a monumental relic from communism.
During the 1960s and 70s, thousands of monuments commemorating the Second World War called 'Spomeniks' were built by former Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito throughout the former Yugoslavia.
It are beautiful monumental sculptures, with an angular geometry echoing the shapes of flowers, crystals, and macro-views of viruses or DNA. In the 1980s the Spomeniks still attracted millions of visitors from the Eastern bloc; today they are largely neglected and unknown, their symbolism lost and unwanted.

Plitvice lakes & waterfalls

Plitvice Lakes National Park (Croatian: Nacionalni park Plitvicka jezera) is the oldest national park in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia. The national park is situated in the karst mountains of central Croatia, at the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is about 70km/an hour drive from our campsite.

(please turn OFF the sound; just enjoy the beautiful images of this video of our region!)
