What makes this campsite "eco"?
Availability of green spaces - we provide access to green areas for guests to enjoy the natural world. Hedgehogs, birds, deer... just be still for a bit and you will see them!
Native plant garden - Our garden and terrain have native plants to encourage biodiversity and preserve natural flora.
Composting – We are composting organic waste to prevent it from going to landfills.
Implementing pest control without the use of chemicals – there are bird and bat boxes on the campsite to control the mosquito population, and we have goldfish in our water tanks for the same reason.
Use of eco-friendly cleaning products – We use environmentally friendly cleaning products to reduce the use of toxic and environmentally harmful chemicals.
Use of recycling bins - we provide separate bins for the collection of recyclable waste to encourage waste sorting, and providing a give-and-take shelf for goods that are still good.
Reduced use of single-use plastics - we limit the use of single-use plastics, such as plastic bottles, bags and utensils, to reduce the negative environmental impact. Lots of it we re-use, replace with wood, glass or metal, or we bring our own packaging when shopping.
Enhancement of local development - we offer information and opportunities for guests to shop locally and engage in local traditions and cultural events. We promote traditional products and souvenirs to support the local economy.
Use of renewable energy - part of the energy required for the property comes from renewable sources
Use of LED bulbs - energy-efficient LED lights and solar lights
Rainwater harvesting - Collecting rainwater for household use, such as watering gardens and rinsing surfaces.
Locally Sourced - our food is produced or grown locally to support local agriculture
Organic food – We serve food produced through organic methods, without harmful pesticides or artificial fertilisers. We make our own fertilisers.
Environmentally friendly furniture – We use furniture made from wood and environmentally friendly materials that are recyclable. In fact, most of it is already recycled!
Upcycling objects on the property – We promote waste reduction with our give-and-take box, we upcycle cartons to wallets, socks to dish scrubbies, clothes to cloths...
Green building practices – We like to use eco-friendly materials and methods during the construction of the property to minimise environmental impact.
